Excellent wood duck. Slightly turned head with relief tail feather carving. Extended crest has relief feather carving. Maker’s oval brand in underside. Measures 13.5” long.

Lot: 2 - John Blair, Sr. (1843-1929), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Rare mallard. Hollow carved with tack eyes and raised neck seat. “C. Sprickles” branded on the underside. Measures 17” long. Original paint with minor flaking and wear, mostly on head and edge of tail; like most Blair decoys the dark green paint on underside was added after the decoy was rigged; excellent structurally. Provenance: Part of a group of 11 Blair decoys purchased by Bob White from Cass Bains, caretaker for the Biddle family. Bob sold it to Lloyd Johnson, who in turn sold it to Bill Mackey. Bill Mackey lent it to Adele Earnest for use in her book, Art of the Decoy. Bob White traded it back from Bill Mackey for a dozen Bob White decoys from his personal rig. Bob White collection. Rare and important long-tail duck. A rigmate to the world record wood duck sold in April of 2026. Branded “C. F. Spear” on underside. Decoy was never rigged or weighted. Measures 15” long.

Outstanding redhead. Made for Dr. John Cunningham. Slightly turned head, relief crossed wingtips, and relief tail feather carving. Oval brand in underside. Decoy was never rigged or weighted. Measures 15.75” long.

Important goldeneye. Head is turned 45 degrees. “To Dr. Edgar Burke with makers compliments L.T. Ward Jr” painted on underside. Also with the McCleery collection ink stamp and Sotheby’s sticker. Branded “WP” for the Winward Prescott collection. Measures 15” long.

Rare and important Canada goose. Hollow carved with relief wing and highly detailed bill carving. Measures 26” long.

Very rare and important rigmate pair of greenwing teal. Hollow carved with comb feather paint detail on drake. Both branded “G.K. Schmidt” on lower side. Measure 10.5” long. Original paint with very minor flaking and wear; dent on one side of hen’s head and body near wing patch; minor roughness on one side of hen’s bill; very slight separation at body seams and neck seats; thin line of varnish added around hen’s neck seat; chip in one side of drake’s bill was professionally restored; some filler and touchup to a small chip on one side of drake’s neck seat. Provenance: Jim and Diane Cook collection.

Exceedingly rare English/Dawson pintail. One of only two known. Hollow carved with raised neck seat and raised V wingtip carving. Relief tail feather carving and inlaid hardwood tail sprig. Hillman collection ink stamp on underside. Measures 18.25” long.

Very rare redhead. One of only a few known. Deep relief wing carving and slightly turned head. From Bach’s personal rig with F.B. carved in underside. Measures 14.5” long.
