A German Luther Bible printed by Johann and Heinrich Stern in Luneburg in 1665. Bound in contemporary full leather over wooden boards with raised bands. Illustrated with an engraved allegorical title page and numerousengraved biblical illustrations, including a large folding plan of Jerusalem. This substantial folio edition reflects the important Protestant printing tradition of northern Germany during the 17th century andremains an impressive example of an early Lutheran Bible in its period binding. A gilt bronze altar cross base with inset etched glass roundels and a trefoil-form foot. Continental Europe, dated 1568. The stem supports a plain Latin cross centered by a circular glass medallion, with additionalinset glass bosses around the knop. The underside is inscribed “L.B.” and dated “1568” (or “IS68” as rendered), suggesting a maker’s or owner’s initials. 8" x 5 1/2".

A gilt bronze crucifix with applied Corpus Christi. Continental Europe, probably 15th–16th century. The attenuated figure of Christ is cast separately and affixed to a stepped cross form decorated with engravedand punched borders. Numerous mounting holes around the perimeter suggest the crucifix originally served as an applique on a larger liturgical object, shrine, reliquary, or processional furnishing. The reverse retainstraces of gilding and evidence of historic attachment.12 1/4" x 8".

A gilt bronze Corpus Christi, after a model by Guglielmo della Porta (Porlezza circa 1500–1577 Rome). Southern German, probably Augsburg, late 16th to early 17th century. The finely cast figure depicts Christ withelongated proportions and expressive anatomy, retaining substantial original gilding and mounted on a later display stand. According to accompanying documentation, the model created by della Porta served as a prototypefor numerous later crucifix figures and the jeweled treatment of the casting suggests production in Augsburg. With mount: 10 1/4" x 7 7/8". Condition: Abrasions, wear, and surface dirt. Provenance: Appraised byChristine Magne Antiquaire in 2020.

A 16th-century vermeil and silver relief plaque depicting the Virgin and Child enthroned attended by standing saints within anelaborate architectural setting. Mounted within an ebonized wood and gilt-metal tabernacle frame enriched with scrolling ornament, winged figures, and colored glass stones. The plaque appears to be an originalperiod example after a composition by Moderno, one of the most celebrated Renaissance medalists and sculptors working in relief. 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". A French vermeil Episcopal candleholder by Marie Thierry (1838–1919). Marked “B / .800” and “GM.” The openwork crown is richly decorated with scrolling foliate ornament, floral motifs,and simulated gemstones, surmounted by a gilt orb and radiant star finial. A Russian silver devotional pendant opening to reveal a finely carved boxwood relief of the Annunciation, with the Archangel Gabriel appearing before the Virgin Mary beneath an architectural canopy. Finely carved ivory devotional group depicting the seated Madonna and Christ Child upon a heart-shaped cloud above a winged putto head, mounted on an ebonizedwood pedestal with ivory ball feet and an ivory cartouche monogrammed “AM.” The composition is derived from the celebrated image of the Madonna della Ghiara of Reggio Emilia. 8 1/4" x 4".
