An Hispanic-Philippine School carved and polychromed wood Corpus Christi mounted on a wood cross with gilt-metal radiating halo, INRI cartouche, and Memento Mori skull and crossed bones. 2nd half 19th century. Thefigure retains glass eyes and natural human hair, with gilt-metal perizoma, faux diamond nail heads, and elaborate repoussé gilt rays behind the body. A devotional work reflecting the blending of Spanish Baroque religiousimagery with Philippine craftsmanship. 19th century. 19" x 10 1/2" x 2 1/2".
