Very Fine Model 1906 Vickers Ltd. Dutch Contract Luger Pistol with Holster This is a scarce Luger variation that was produced by the Vickers Ltd. Company in England for the Netherlands. These were manufactured in the 1915-17 time frame when hostilities broke out between the Germans and Dutch. There were approximately 10,000 made, but they are very rare today as they saw considerable use in the Far East. Most you see are in terrible condition and almost all have been arsenal refurbished during the 1925-1933 time frame. The pistol has a blank chamber area with the front toggle link stamped "VICKERS/LTD" in two lines. The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the "crown/W" Dutch Wilhelmina proof and both sides of the extractor are marked "GELADEN" with the safety area marked "RUST". The top of the barrel is marked with the date "1930" just forward of the chamber indicating the year the pistol was refurbished by the Dutch and the underside of the barrel is stamped with "crown/V", "crown/GP" and small "NP" British Nitro proofs along with the pistol serial number and the same British "crown/V" proof on top of the breech block and front toggle. A brass plate was correctly soldered to the left side of the frame that has been stamped "M. L. Kdj./207". Since this is a 1906 style pistol there is no stock lug. It is fitted with a grip safety and has the original coarse checkered walnut grips that are marked with only a circled "GS" proof and serial number (6137) on each grip. It is fitted with one original nickel plated magazine with an unmarked wooden base. This exceptional Luger is complete with an original Vickers/Dutch contract leather holster and combination cleaning rod/oiler. The front of the holster is marked with a circled "Z" proof over "CW/N/7 36/A L". Manufacturer: Vickers Ltd Model: 1906 Luger BBL: 3 7/8 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: walnut checkered Serial Number: 6137 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine with 95% of the original arsenal refurbished blue finish with only edge and high spot wear and showing some minor light pin-prick type pitting in some isolated areas under the blue finish. The grips are also very fine with a nice dark distinct color showing only minor handling marks and some minor refreshening of the checkering on the left side. The holster is excellent with a beautiful medium brown color with clear sharp markings and tight stitching. This is a really exceptional high condition Dutch contract Luger rig that rates way above the rest of surviving examples!
