Winchester Model 21 Skeet Grade Double Barrel Shotgun with Factory Letter Manufactured in 1948. Red bead front and steel bead mid sights on the concave solid matte rib. The left rear barrel is marked "WINCHESTER - 12 GAUGE 2 3/4 CHAM.", the bottom of the Winchester proof steel barrels are marked "WS-1" and "WS-2". Each flat is marked with the Winchester oval proof. The right side of the water table is marked with the Winchester oval proof and "MADE IN U.S.A. MODEL 21/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN, CONN.", and the left side has the three-line patent marking. Directly ahead of the trigger guard is marked "SKEET". The matching serial number is marked on the upper tang, left barrel flat, on the forearm wood and forearm hardware. Single trigger with gold washed selector, tang mounted manual safety, ejectors and mounted with a checkered beaver tail walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber Winchester grip cap and checkered bare butt. Length of pull is 14 inches, pitch is 1 3/4 inches, drop at the heel 2 1/2 inches and drop at the comb is 1 9/16 inches. The accompanying factory letter states that it is a 12 gauge "Standard Grade" with WS 1 and WS 2 chokes, single trigger, non-automatic safety, pistol grip stock with checkered butt, weight 7Ibs., 9 oz., the above mentioned dimensions, selective ejection, standard skeet finish that it was made for Marshall Field & Co., inspected on April 2, 1948, and completed inspection on April 7, 1948, 1 item order number 1752-49F. It also states that at the time of shipment there was a 30 inch interchangeable barrel with modified choked right barrel and full left. (Not included.) The shotgun retains 98% plus original blue finish with some wear on the front under side of the receiver from the forearm knuckle and three small minor scratches on the left rear barrel. The wood is also excellent with a few minor dings, handling marks and very crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
