Unique Documented Special Order Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter Third Model manufactured in 1882. This special order rifle features a very unique 4 inch drop, as well as a special order single set trigger and 1/2 magazine tube. The barrel is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and a replacement folding ladder rear sight graduated to "30". The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/King's Improvement patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "CAL. 45 - 60" at the breech. The bottom of the cartridge elevator is marked "45-60". The upper tang has "{MODEL 1876}", and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). Comes with a factory letter which confirms the rifle configuration, caliber, round barrel, set trigger, "Knife blade and Buck and Lyman" sights, 1/2 magazine, 4 inch drop and that it was received in and shipped out of the warehouse on October 17, 1882, to order number 35764. The rifle retains 70% of the original blue finish, with some thinning to brown, some muzzle and edge wear, some scattered minor scratches and some scattered minor spotting. The hammer shows much of the somewhat dulling case colors, and the lever has a smooth gray and silvered out patina. The wood is fine with overall scattered minor dents, dings and scratches.
