Early World War II U.S. Springfield M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle with British Lend-Lease Proofmarks This is an early WWII US Springfield M1 Garand rifle that was given to the British under Lend-Lease program in early 1942. The receiver has the standard markings of: "U.S. RIFLE/CAL..30 M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/525008". The barrel is stamped with the original inverted "S-A 2-42" production marks with the inverted British tonnage proofs over the original Springfield Armory marks. The British proofmarks consist of the "Crown/BNP" proofmarks for the Birmingham proof house followed by "30 06 L.494 18 TONS PER". It is fitted with the correct early, SA marked parts such as the -2SA marked bolt, the -3 SA uncut operating rod, the -5-SA marked trigger housing and internal components. It has the original early WWII locking bar rear sights that have the "BATTLE RANGE" markings on the right side. It still retains the original WWII narrow gas cylinder and early front sight with the front sight screw cap in place and single slot gas cylinder plug. It is fitted with an original GI walnut stock and handguard set, with a boxed "SA/GHS" and cross-cannon cartouche on the left side with the circled "P" proof on the pistol grip area with a checkered steel buttplate with an early nickel plated oiler inside the butt trap. The rear of the front handguard has a white band painted around it with a spotty partial red over paint on the white band. It comes with an original unmarked WWII type leather sling. Manufacturer: Springfield Armory U.S. Model: M1-Garand BBL: 24 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 30-06 Finish: parkerized Grips: Serial Number: 525008 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Very fine with 95% of its gray/green parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with finish loss on the right side receiver rail and top areas of the bolt and rear of the receiver.
