Extremely Fine Simson & Company Weimar Military Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with Holster and Two Matching Magazines Manufactured in the 1920s and 1930s, Simson & Company was primarily a sporting arms company but as a result of political issues became the sole provider for Luger pistols to the Weimar Republic, refurbishing the Reichwehr's treaty-limited stock of handguns and producing needed replacements. Simson lost this privileged status with the rise of the Nazis. Blade and notch sights, with a blank chamber and "SIMSON & Co/SUHL" on the front toggle. Small "eagle/6" proofs and "eagle" firing proofs are present on multiple parts, with "eagle/33" on the right side of the extension. Fitted with straw finished small parts, checkered grips, and two aluminum base nickel magazines; both magazines are numbered "8001" with Simson "eagle/6" proofs, and the extra has a "+" stamp. Included with the group is an "eagle/6" marked Simson proofed takedown/loading tool and a black leather holster marked "C.WEISS/BRAUNSCHWEIG", "WaA750" and "1939" on the back. Manufacturer: Simson & Company Model: P08 BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 8001 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Extremely fine, with 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing a mixed patina on the grip straps, bright edge wear and mild spotting/handling marks overall. 60% of the bright original straw finish is present on the small parts, with solid niter blue in the protected areas. Light verdigris and dings are visible on the grips. The holster is very good, with a few light scuffs, cracking of the closure strap, and heavy verdigris buildup in the magazine pouch.
