Signed World War II Production Japanese Sword in Shin Gunto Mounts Measuring 37 1/2 inches overall, with a 26 inch blade showing a wavy hamon fitted into a gilt brass habaki, with standard World War II "shin gunto" pattern furniture. The tang is mildly aged, with a three-symbol signature on the right side. The signature appears to be "Kaneaki", a trade name used by a number of Showa-era Swordsmiths. The blade shows a few edge nicks and evidence of cleaning/polishing, with some areas of pitting and strong remnants of the hamon.
