World War I DWM German Artillery Luger Dated 1917 Rig with Shoulder Stock This is a standard mid-WWI German Artillery Luger, the barrel extension is dated 1917 and the toggle has the "DWM" makers mark. The right side of the barrel extension is stamped with the standard DWM acceptance proofs. The Imperial firing proof is also found on the right side of the barrel and breech block. It is marked with the proper "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" markings on the upper safety area and extractor. It has checkered walnut grips that are numbered "58" on the back sides. The grips have been branded with a number "9" on each side that is filled with red paint. This was strictly an overzealous application of the directive used on the 1896 Mauser pistols to make sure they were used with the correct ammunition. It also comes with an original non-matching wood shoulder stock, an unmarked reproduction artillery type holster, reproduction double magazine pouch and shoulder strap set. The magazine pouch does contain an extra WWII non-matching blued aluminum base magazine that is numbered "8752". The holster does contain an original Imperial marked takedown tool and a reproduction cleaning rod. Manufacturer: DWM Model: 1914 Artillery BBL: 8 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 9589 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue, showing edge and high spot wear overall with blue loss on the muzzle, front frame rails, side plate and stock lug area mixed with some areas of light brown patina. The smaller parts retain approximately 80% straw colors fading on the high wear areas. The grips are fine condition with distinct checkering showing light wear overall with more wear on the left side, mixed with some minor handling marks. It has matching numbers except the magazines, attaching iron and grips as noted above. The wooden shoulder stock is good with the lug having turned a dark blue/brown patina mixed with surface rust and pitting on the exposed metal areas. The stock itself is also in good condition showing numerous handling marks and light scratches on the left side from actual use. There are two small nail holes behind the lug on the front left side with a repair plug on the right side. The reproduction holster, pouch and straps are all near mint. Mechanically excellent.
