U.S. North-Hall Model 1843 Breech Loading Percussion Carbine 10,500 of these "side lever" Hall carbines were produced by Simeon North in 1844-1853. More than half are believed to have been rifled for use in the Civil War. Most of the rifled carbines were part of the 5,000 rebored and rifled for .58 caliber Minie balls during the "Hall Carbine Affair," but this example and a few others are .54 caliber and may have been rifled by one of the national armories or by the Confederate States. Manufacturer: Simeon North Model: 1843 BBL: 21 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 54 Finish: brown/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: NSN Class: Antique Condition: Very good. Most of the refinished brown remains. The breech and lever have traces of case colors. There are some minor marks and pitting. The stock is very good and has a crisp cartouche, a chip on the right by the rear barrel band, and a few scrapes and dings. Mechanically excellent.
