Exceptionally Rare Factory Master Engraved "W.H.G." Signed Parker Brothers AHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun According to the chart on page 325 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote, only 48 Parker Brothers AH Grade shotguns with 30 inch Acme Steel barrels were manufactured. Manufactured in 1911. Dual bead sights on the matte rib marked " PARKER BROTHERS. MAKERS MERIDEN. CONN. ACME STEEL" with 3 inch chambers (lengthened), selective automatic ejectors, and full/improved cylinder chokes. The receiver has standard markings on the water table along with Austrian commercial proofmarks and a "55" proof date, there are no such marks on the barrels. The receiver is fully engraved with tight scroll patterns and game scenes with hunting dogs on the sides (setters on the right and pointers on the left) the dogs are accompanied by small bird scenes including ducks and pheasants. The underside is engraved with two setters over a scene of three standing deer. The deer scene is signed "W.H.G.," the initials of Master Engraver William Henry Gough. Dual triggers and tang mounted automatic safety with matching visible serial numbers. With a checkered splinter forearm with engraved fitting and pistol grip buttstock with fleur de lis carved checkered flats, a hard rubber grip cap with inset engraved gold oval on the end, and a solid Pachmayr recoil pad. The barrel and stock measurements are: chokes .010 (IC)/.043 (F); bore diameter at 9 inches from the breech .733/.735 inch; minimum wall thickness .022/.022 inch; drop at comb 1 5/8 inches; drop at heel 2 7/8 inches; length of pull 13 3/4 inches. The barrels have 98% of the period refurbished blue finish with a slight wave of polishing marks visible, slightly light rib markings, and some light marks from the forearm. The receiver has strong case colors with the balance a smooth gray patina, crisp engraving, and some light spotting. The refinished wood is very good with freshened checkering, rubbed oil finish, added recoil pad, and some light bruises throughout. Mechanically excellent.
