Pair of Brass Barreled Hadley Flintlock Pistols -A) Hadley Flintlock Pistol Pair of Brass Barreled Hadley Flintlock Pistols -A) Hadley Flintlock Pistol Thomas Hadley of Birmingham was active around 1750-1770. This pair of pistols would have been particularly well-suited for defending a coach or for use by a British officer. Similar pistols are known to have been used by both the British and Americans in the French & Indian War and American Revolution. The brass barrels and fittings would have been more resistant to corrosion than iron, and the lightly flared "cannon" style muzzles would have made reloading easier. They have "HADLEY" in a banner at the center of their floral and scroll engraved locks which have sliding half-cock safeties, additional light engraving and proof and view marks flanking a "TH" hallmark on the barrel, and an engraved pineapple finial and floral motif on the trigger guard. The bag shaped wrists are checkered.
