* Letter signed by Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, dated 9th of Tammuz, 1959. The letter was written to " ... the great Rabbi ... Reichman" - Rabbi Zalman Reichman of New York, when the physical situation of the yeshiva was very difficult. In his letter, the great rabbi expresses his concerns regarding the fate of the yeshiva. "And you well know the situation and our tragic battle ... and from this one can discuss and foresee the result that ... could be bitter ...! The fate of the yeshiva is that there is no natural way - like the other Torah and chessed institutions - to find a source for its existence, and we must continue to rely on a miracle within a miracle ... I tremble in face of our difficult situation, with fear I tremble in the face of the yeshiva's fate, because I don't know how it will continue even now. We must remember and not forget even for a minute that the yeshiva has responsibility for more than 150 families of those who learn there, including young Torah scholars who are dependent on the monthly support given to them, and from where!?...."* Letter signed by Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel on the 18th of Elul, 1961, to Reichman of New York regarding the yeshiva's situation: "... the duress increases in our Holy Land and it is too difficult to bear with the responsibility to support the many students and our eyes look for quick compassion from the Heavens."Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel [1877-1965] was the Rosh Yeshiva of Mir in the village of Mir and its founder in the Land of Israel.
