Condition / Notes: This is a scarce author-signed first edition of this novel. The inscription on the front flyleaf reads "For Roy Goble /.my life and lies / Harry Hansen."

This antique volume is bound in red cloth with stamped gilt lettering to the spine and a facsimile of the author's signature stamped in gold on the front cover. The book shows light shelfwear. The binding is firm. The pages are clean and without markings. The intact illustrated dust jacket, with price of $2.50 on the front flap, displays light soiling and minor tears at the edges.

This book is from the library of Leroy Truman Goble, a minor figure in the Chicago literary renaissance of the 1920's. Goble was friendly with the likes of Sherwood Anderson and Ben Hecht. He was also a photographer and artist, although he seems to have worked in the fledgling advertising in Chicago during that time.
