Colt AR15/SP-1 Fully Automatic Class III/NFA Rifle Converted by Central Kentucky Arms This is an example of an early Colt AR15/SP1 rifle manufactured circa 1973 that has been converted into a fully automatic class III/NFA assault rifle by the Central Kentucky Arms Company in Cynthiana, Ky. The lower receiver was remachined for the automatic sear trip and the left side has been remarked with the "AUTO" markings below the cross-pin. Currently, it is fitted with a M16A1 type upper receiver with the tear-drop forward assist and two position, flip rear sight. It is fitted with a early SP1 style standard weight, chrome lined barrel that is marked on the underside "C MP C", which is fitted with a bird-cage flash hider, standard front sight base and post sight with no other markings or proofs. It has a Colt commercial SP1 type bolt carrier with the small filler plate on the underside of the carrier (which allows it to function as a FA weapon). It has the early triangular style handguards with the early black plastic buttstock and pistol grip. This early AR15/SP1 comes with three 20 round magazines. Manufacturer: Colt Model: SP-1 BBL: 20 inch round Stock: black checkered plastic Gauge: 5.56x45 mm Finish: black Grips: Serial Number: SP22206 Class: Class III Condition: Very good as modified with 95% of a reanodized black finish on the upper and lower receiver showing minor edge and high spot wear. The buttstock, pistol grip and handguards are all in very fine condition with the following caveats. The rifle is in need of some minor repairs and replacement parts. Currently the buffer tube has been cut off which will need to be replaced; however, it does come with a Colt SP1 buffer, buffer spring and SP1 type plastic buttstock. The buttstock is missing the early trap type buttplate and screws. It also needs the front cross-pin replaced to be correct. This could be a fully functional Colt fully automatic rifle with some minor repairs. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
