Bolt Action Magazine Dangerous Game Rifle Built On A Mauser 98 Single Square Bridge Magnum Action With blacked tapering barrel with stepped reinforce at the breech end, signed "W.J. JEFFERY & CO. LTD. 9 GOLDEN SQUARE. REGENT STREET. LONDON. W.I." and with block mounted bead front sight and partially matted quarter rib with rear sight of one fixed and two folding leaves respectively graduated "1", "2" and "3" and each with platinum inlaid center line. Blacked Mauser magnum receiver with checkered panel to the receiver ring and single square bridge, the underside struck with the Mauser banner and serial number "106643" for circa 1930-1931. The blacked bolt with turned down handle and flag safety. Blued magazine floor plate and trigger guard, the last engraved with the Jeffery serial number. Figured 14 3/4 inch pistol grip stock including 7/8 inch Pachmayr rubber recoil pad and with checkered grip and forearm. Dark horn forearm cap and pistol grip cap, and blued sling eyes. Weight: 10 lbs. 2 oz., Birmingham nitro proof marks for .500, 2.75 inch case, 116 grs powder noted as "NORMAL", 532 grs bullet. The barrel retains 95% plus strong original blue finish with crisp signature, some light age related surface discoloration from handling at the mid point. Receiver retaining 95% plus original finish with some thinning, bridge checkering sharp. Bolt handle with expected handling wear and bolt body with light wear. Magazine floor plate and trigger guard with light storage wear. Minor storage and handling marks to the stock and slight chips to horn cap. Mechanically excellent.
