Egypt, Late Period, ca. 664–332 BCE. Turquoise-glazed faience amulet of Horus striding forward, his falcon head crowned with the pschent, the double crown combining the white hedjet of Upper Egypt with the red deshret of Lower Egypt. He wears a pleated shendyt kilt, arms at his sides, left leg advanced. A flat back pillar, pierced with a suspension hole, steadies the figure for stringing and wear. Such amulets invoked Horus as sky-lord and rightful king, worn in life and placed among the wrappings of the dead as protection and a symbol of legitimacy. Size: 0.2" W x 1.1" H x 0.4" D (0.5 cm W x 2.8 cm H x 1.0 cm D).

Provenance: private Arden, North Carolina, USA collection; ex-Palmyra Heritage Gallery, acquired 2025; ex-Secret Eyes Gallery 1970s-1980s
