Egypt, Late Period, ca. 664–332 BCE. Two wedjat eye amulets in Egyptian faience, glazed turquoise-blue. Each renders the Eye of Horus, with an arching brow, spiraling teardrop marking, and descending flourish. The larger retains a pupil of applied black faience; the smaller is pierced for suspension. Wedjat amulets were worn by the living and placed among the wrappings of the dead for protection and regeneration. Size of larger: 1.3" W x 0.8" H (3.3 cm W x 2.0 cm H).

  • Condition: Larger has been repaired with restoration over break line which renders it no longer wearable. Both have expected weathering to surfaces. Otherwise, more petite is intact and wearable and both have good remaining detail.
