DWM 1920 Commercial "Artillery" Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Birmingham Proofs Manufactured in Germany and exported abroad between the World Wars using a combination of new-made and military surplus components. This example bears the markings of the Birmingham Proof House, indicating travel to England, and notes provided by the consignor suggest that the pistol traveled on to Quebec, Canada, where it was united with its case. The barrel is the artillery pattern, with the 8-position tangent rear sight, an Imperial Eagle on the right, "crown/BNP" on the left, and a mix of tonnage/barrel diameter nomenclature and a "C 2 E" crossed scepter proof on the underside. The extension is uninspected and undated, with the eagle repeated on the breechblock, the Birmingham proof on the left frame rail, straw colored small parts and a pair of checkered grips. Included with the pistol is a blue velvet lined hardwood case with a French-cut interior which is sufficient to hold the pistol and the following included accessories: two extra magazines (all nickel finished with unmarked hardwood cases, artillery-length barrel rod, drift pin, takedown/loading tool, and a 50-round box of Canadian Industries-Dominion 9mm "Super-Clean" Luger ammunition. Manufacturer: DWM Model: Artillery BBL: 8 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 8233 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine, with 95% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish, showing some bright edge wear, mild spotting, scattered dings and mild handling marks. The extension has a partially erased military-style serial number on the left side and a legible non-matching commercial serial number on the underside. The grips are also very fine with some mild dings and dents. The custom case is very good, with some mild wear on the relined exterior and minor stains and scuffs on the interior. The ammunition box is held together with tape; otherwise, the accessories are in good condition. Mechanically excellent.
