Documented First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Rare Long Fluted Cylinder and Factory Letter This is a Colt SAA equipped with the rare "long fluted" cylinder. These were a fairly short lived production variation during the 1913-1915 time frame that fell in the 330,000 serial number range with approximately 1,478 total made. These Long Fluted revolvers were actual standard production models made using left-over Colt 1878 DA revolver cylinders. It has the two-line address on top of the barrel and the caliber marking on the left. The left side of the frame has the standard two line, three date patent marking followed by the Rampant Colt. The Colt "VP/triangle" proof is marked on the left, upper front of the trigger guard bow with a single number "1" on the rear. The complete matching serial number appears on the frame, trigger guard, back strap and the loading gate and right rear of the frame are marked with the assembly number "51". It has checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt emblem and the partial serial number "30114" underneath. The included factory letter confirms that this revolver was produced with "a double action cylinder of long flute configuration" in the current caliber and barrel length. It was shipped to Stauffer Eshleman and Company of New Orleans on September 12, 1913.
