Beautiful Cased Factory Master Engraved 1989 Colt Show Third Series Woodsman Match Target Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Letter Manufactured in 1969 and engraved by Master Engraver Dennis Kies for the 1989 Las Vegas Antique Arms Show. The pistol is finished in bright nickel with fire blue screws, trigger, side plate, front sight blade, rear sight blade, slide hold backs and magazine catch. The pistol is engraved with Type C factory custom scroll and floral patterns on the barrel sides, frame, trigger guard and slide. The left side of the barrel is marked with the one-line address in a ribbon. The Rampant Colt over "MATCH TARGET" on the left side of the frame is amid scroll engraving, and the "COLT AUTOMATIC/CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE" marking is scroll and wavy line bordered. The serial number is on the right side of the frame amid scroll engraving. The grip straps are serrated, and it is fitted with smooth right hand thumb rest grips. The pistol comes in a beautiful custom walnut case with wood latches and red French fitting interior. In the case is a niter blue and a nickel magazine both marked "CAL.22 L.R." on the bottom. The factory letter verifies the finish with fire blue small parts, ivory grips, Type C engraving with custom scroll pattern and that it was engraved by Master Engraver Dennis Kies. The special order extra nickel magazine is also noted. The letter also indicates the grips were made by Mr. John Guest for the Colt Custom Shop and that he was the successful bidder for the gun when it was auctioned off by Colt at the 1989 Las Vegas Antique Arms Show. This pistol had previously been returned to the Colt factory to be put into its current configuration.
