1862 Civil War Era Encased Postage Stamp, EP-119, HB-154, S-109a,10, HUNT & NASH, "Irving House," New York, Ribbed Frame Type, Rarity-5 (21 to 30 Known), About Uncirculated.
Rated as Rarity-5 (21 to 30 Known) according to Fred Reed. The deep intense green color 1861 Civil War George Washington US Postage Stamp is perfectly centered. It is viewed under clear unbroken mica with a tiny touch of natural surface lamination at the rim edge at 12:00 and ultra-faint signs of circulation. The fine lines of the "Ribbing" on the face side of the case are exceptionally sharp and clear. The case is a natural golden-brassy color with the legends that are sharp in detail. This popular Ribbed Frame variety and major merchant type are always in demand and rarely located this nice especially with any Silvering. (VF Scott Cat. $1,400)
