Two Rare Chinese 19th Century Celadon Famille Rose Shrimp Dishes China, Qing period, the first a fine and rare celadon glaze shaped dish with extended handle rim, the interior finely painted and decorated with young deer, exotic birds, butterflies and lavish botanicals. The border gilt and painted in looping design which support baskets of flowers and stylized floral medallions, the base of which ties in to an unusual blue enamel border for the central cartouche. The base having an applied mark: Canton 1876 (1 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches). Paired with another fine celadon shrimp dish with two birds amongst deep crimson blooms and butterflies (1 7/8 x 9 1/2 x 10 5/8 inches).

The upper rim decorated with numerous precious objects including lucky bats, deer, elephants and toad-like creatures. The upper rim's motif mirrored in the wide base rim below a band of four dragons. The design is again mirrored to the underside of the top-plate, with additional butterflies and beetles. A total of 12 dragons decorate the tazza.

The court figures finely detailed with gilt highlights to their hair. The upper rim and dividing panels richly decorated with blooming peonies, botanicals, butterflies and fruits. The border elements encasing a central Coat of Arms medallion rimmed by sinuous vines and fruit. The underside of the top painted with colorful blooming peonies, the wide-mouth base decorated to the lower rim with a gilt border highlighted with peonies.

The set features very high quality painting and detailing, the saucers having the traditional Rose Medallion alternating cartouches of court and floral scenes with a very unusual squared geometric central medallion, each of which features different birds, bugs, butterflies and botanical designs. The upper rim of the scallop-edge cups having a very slight ruffle effect, painted and enameled with court and floral cartouches with fine gold details to the figure's hair. The set of the highest quality with fine details and heavy gold highlights.
