This text, an updated version of Yuanjian He's doctoral thesis at the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies, discusses "a number of aspects of Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua) syntax within the framework of government-binding theory (GB) (Chomsky 1981, 1982, 1986a)." According to the introduction, "The aim of the present study is to introduce further insights into the application of GB methodology to Chinese syntax."

Condition / Notes: This volume shows exceptionally well displaying only the slightest indications of age and wear. The boards are clean and the binding is solid, as are the hinges. The pages are clear and bright. There is a stamp on the back paste-down which indicates that this text was once part of the Chinese Library collection at SUNY Stony Brook.
