Excellent World War II British Lend-Lease Shipped U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle Manufactured in March 1942 and subsequently shipped to Britain as a part of the Lend-Lease Act during World War II. It features a correct 5/8 inch wide winged blade front sight with retained screw cap on top of the "J" marked Springfield Armory pattern narrow-base gas cylinder which chamfered lock and single-slot plug, a type 1 locking-bar adjustable peep rear sight assembly, an "S-A-1-42" marked barrel with proper bright chamber ring and British proof marks, "-12SA/RE5B" bolt, an un-cut "3 SA" operating rod, a serrated and stamped short fork follower rod, "6" follower, and a "-5-SA" trigger housing with "-2 SA" hammer, "-6SA" safety, and "L" stamped milled trigger guard. Fitted with a set of smooth walnut handguards (proper milled and grooved rear handguard clip) and a walnut stock marked with a boxed "S.A./G.H.S." (U.S. Springfield Armory, Col. Gilbert H. Stewart) inspection cartouche and "ordnance wheel" acceptance stamp on the left of the wrist, along with a circled serif "P" firing proof on the grip.

  • Condition: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original parkerized finish with some light edge and cycling wear, some minor scuffs, a "0" on the barrel and "2" on the receiver in wax pencil, a few minor patches of oxidation, and crisp markings. The wood is also excellent with some minor compression marks and scuffs, a cut line with some traces of red paint (typical of British marking .30-06 chambered rifles in their inventory) on the front handguard, and crisp stamps. Mechanically excellent. Overall a very attractive original example of an early World War II produced and British Lend-Lease shipped U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand Rifle!
