Exceptional Late World War II Nazi Contract Mauser "byf/44" Code Dual-Tone Police P-38 Pistol This is an excellent example of a rare late WWII Nazi contract, dual-tone, Mauser Police P-38 pistol. This is considered as the "Eagle/F" subvariation with approximately 1500 produced in this series. These were manufactured as a commercial P-38 pistol that was procured under a Police contract in late 1944. The left side of the frame has the serial number, "WaA135" proofed and the Eagle/N commercial proof. The left side of the slide has the standard Mauser factory markings of: "P.38" and byf/44" followed by an "Eagle/N" commercial proof and serial number, with the right side having a "WaA135" followed by the "Eagle/F" police proof. The barrel and locking block are also stamped with a "WaA/135" along with the appropriate "Eagle/N" commercial proof on both parts. It has matching serial numbers to include the locking block. It is fitted with the correct late war black, ribbed bakelite grips and comes with an unnumbered "P.38v" marked magazine. Manufacturer: Mauser Model: P 38 BBL: 4 7/8 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm P Finish: blue/matte gray Grips: plastic Serial Number: 5752 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Excellent plus, with 98% plus of the original combination dual-tone blue/gray phosphate finish overall showing only minor edge and high spot wear. There is some light thinning of the finish on the sides of the muzzle area, slide and front grip strap, (which is common with these late war thin phosphate type finishes) mixed with some light handling marks. There is a small streak of dark blue visible on the right front edge of the side. The grips are excellent, with some light scratches. Mechanically excellent. This is one of the best late war Nazi contract, dual-tone Police P38 we have offered for sale.
