SN 24129. Cal. 30. Standard 1902 Luger carbine with 11-3/4" bbl having long ramp bead front sight, 3-position rear sight and full SN on bottom where covered by forend. Intertwined "DWM" scroll on center toggle link. Dished toggles with toggle lock. Checkered walnut forearm, internally matched with the number "129", with sling swivel. Checkered walnut grips. Correct and excellent magazine with unmarked walnut plug. Disassembly shows all numbered parts are matching. The left grip is inspector marked with a "4"; the right grip with a "1". Orig matching checkered walnut stock with second sling swivel and serrated horn buttplate. Not only is the gun entirely matching, but the finish, condition, and color of the forearm and stock are also consistent, making for an especially attractive ensemble. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Exceptionally nice, totally orig condition with nearly 98% bright rust blue having just the slightest wear on the frontstrap. Straw is generally faded but without suggestion of any enhancement. Same condition considerations apply to the stock lug. The forend and buttstock retain virtually all of their orig varnish with just a few scattered handling dings. Checkered surfaces, including the grip panels, are sharp and deep with minimal losses. Orig buttplate has a few small losses as typical from arms of this period and in keeping with the overall condition of this firearm. Mirror bright bore with strong rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. 51516-9 LMA C&R
