Exceptional Winchester Model 1890 Slide Action Rifle in Desirable 22 WRF Caliber This is a beautiful example of a very rare like new Winchester Model 1890 slide action rifle as manufactured in late 1908. These early standard version slide action Winchester rifles in this condition (versus a highly embellished rifle) are extremely rare as they all saw considerable use for over 60-70 years in many rural areas as a main stay hunting rifle intended to put food on the supper table. This example is a mid-production third model that has the takedown feature with the locking lugs that extend through the receiver providing a very strong action. This example has the 5th barrel marking style that reads "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PAT. JUNE 26. 88. DEC. 6. 92. NOV. 27 .06." followed by "-MOD. 1890-". The left rear barrel flat in front of the receiver is marked "22 W.R.F." The underside of the receiver and the rear tang are stamped with serial number "365977A" and "365977" respectively. The upper tang has the late markings of "WINCHESTER/TRADEMARK". The very front edge of the receiver is stamped with "22 WRF" and "43/63". It is fitted with a plain straight grip walnut stock with a crescent steel buttplate and a standard 12 groove walnut pump handle. This rifle has an all blue Winchester metal finish. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1890-Rifle BBL: 24 inch octagon Stock: walnut Gauge: 22 WRF Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 365977A Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Excellent with 98% plus of the bright original blue finish overall with only very minor edge and high spot wear on the pump handle extension and the rear underside of the magazine tube and some very slight flaking of the blue finish on the top tang and trigger guard bow. The stock and pump handle are both in excellent to almost new condition with 99% plus of the original Winchester factory finish with just a couple of very minor handling marks on the side of the stock. Even the buttplate which always shows the highest amount of wear (even from just minor handling or sitting in a gun rack) retains 99% of the blue finish. Truly a superb, extremely high condition early Winchester Model 1890 slide action rifle.
