Fine Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle with Winchester Gun Museum Letter Manufactured in 1891 as a third model. The accompanying Winchester Gun Museum letter lists this rifle with an octagon barrel in .44 caliber and plain trigger when it was shipped on August 24, 1891. It has dovetailed blade and elevation adjustable sights, standard Winchester markings and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). The rifle retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a mottled brown patina. Traces of original niter blue remain on the loading gate, and traces of muted original case colors remain on the hammer and forend cap. The wood is also fine showing some minor-moderate dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
