Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Box of Ammunition This solid Winchester Model 1873 SRC was manufactured in 1892. The top of the barrel ahead of the front sight is marked with the two line address/King's Improvement patent dates and "44 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873", the serial number is on the lower tang, and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL". Fitted with a bayonet style blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, and saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver. Blue finish with casehardened hammer. Lever and buttplate, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). The number "191" is stamped on the underside of the stock, possibly a rack or inventory number. Comes with a 50 count box of Winchester Repeating Arms Co. 44 caliber ammunition. The carbine retains 20% original blue finish concentrated in protected areas, with a smooth gray and brown patina on the balance. There are a number of light scratches on the left side of the receiver, as well as a few minor dings. The hammer retains most of the bright original case colors, while the lever and buttplate have a smooth dark patina. The wood is also good with a minor chip on the left side of the toe and overall scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The box of ammunition is currently sealed in plastic wrap. The seal appears to be broken and it remains very good with a couple of minor stains and some minor soiling.
