Outstanding, Factory Documented, First Year Production Three Digit Number, Special Order Winchester Deluxe Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle with Casehardened Receiver Offered here is an excellent example of a first year production and special order deluxe version of the most successful lever action rifle in history, the Winchester Model 1894. John Moses Browning's design has scarcely been changed between 1894 and today. This Model 1894 sporting rifle comes with a Cody Firearms Museum letter. The letter confirms the rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel, checkered pistol grip stock, Lyman sights, half magazine and casehardened receiver. The rifle was received in the warehouse on 16 February 1895 and shipped on 18 February 1895 on order number 7589. Also included is a photocopy of the original Winchester serial number ledger. The numerous special order features on this rifle include a 26-inch full octagon barrel, half magazine, casehardened receiver, fancy grain walnut forearm and pistol grip stock, Style H checkering and Lyman folding Beach type front sight with bead. The stock pistol grip has a black hard rubber pistol grip cap embossed "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO." The barrel, bolt and loading gate are blue. The forearm cap, receiver, hammer, lever and crescent buttplate are casehardened. The highly figured, fancy grain walnut stock and forearm have a high polish piano finish. The top of the barrel is roll stamped with the two-line legend "- MANUFACTURED BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A." ahead of the rear sight. The caliber designation "38-55" is stamped on the top barrel flat at the breech. The three digit serial number "832" is stamped across the front edge of the receiver bottom. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1894-Rifle BBL: 26 inch octagon Stock: walnut Gauge: 38-55 WCF Finish: blue/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: 832 Class: Antique Condition: Excellent. The rifle is all original and retains nearly 95% of the original blue finish. The barrel has nearly all of the blue finish with crisp markings. The bolt, loading gate, rear sight and tang sight retain nearly all of the bright blue finish. The case colors on the forearm cap and receiver remain 85% complete and have traces of silvering on contact points, and there is some very minor age spotting on the right side of the receiver. The stock and forearm are both excellent and retain 95% of the high polish piano finish with only a few scattered and very minor handling marks. This is an outstanding example of a very early production casehardened frame Winchester Deluxe Model 1894 lever action rifle with many special order features. It would be hard to improve on this exceptional Model 1894 rifle.
