Exceptional and Rare Winchester Model 12 Slide Action 28 Gauge Skeet Grade Shotgun with Original Box The included letter from noted author and Winchester expert George Madis states that upon careful examination and inspection of this shotgun (identified by serial number in the letter), that is was manufactured in 1957 and is a correct and original Skeet Grade 28 gauge shotgun. With Bradley red bead front and steel bead mid sights on the correct Winchester Special ventilated rib, 2 3/4 inch chamber, standard barrel markings and Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, and "SKEET" marked choke. The bolt and lifter are correctly factory engine turned and the receiver is correctly marked "SKEET" on the underside under the serial number. 1x walnut diamond pattern checkered extension forend and pistol grip buttstock with a blue steel grip cap, and correct late style checkered Winchester buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .547 inch; minimum wall thickness .077 inch; drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 1/8 inches; length of pull 13 7/8 inches. With original box and papers. The wood has sharp checkering, and a few small dings and light scratches. Mechanically excellent. Box is fine with oxidation on the staples, corner and edge wear, and overall solid construction. Skeet guns generally saw extensive use, making boxed examples in excellent original condition quite scarce and desirable.
