Scarce Whitney-Beals "Walking Beam" Percussion Pocket Revolver One of just 2,300 manufactured in the mid-1850s to late 1860s in barrel lengths ranging from 2 to 6 inches based on a patent by Fordyce Beals whose designs also led to the creation of Remington's famous line of percussion revolvers. It has a brass post and notch sights, "ADDRESS E. WHITNEY/WHITNEYVILLE, CT" on the top strap, "BEALS PATENT./SEPT. 1854." on the left side of the frame below the hammer, floral etching on the cylinder, and matching serial numbers including on the grips. Manufacturer: Whitney Arms Company Model: Beals BBL: 4 inch octagon Stock: Gauge: 31 percussion Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: F22 Class: Antique Condition: Fine with 40% original blue concentrated on the barrel and protected areas, some light oxidation, and patches of applied case color on the frame and trigger shield. The grips are very good with minor edge wear and light scratches. Mechanically functions, but needs work as it is out of time.
