767. White Pongo gorilla head gear worn by Ray “Crash” Corrigan. (P.R.C. Pictures, 1945) Mechanized gorilla head piece armature measuring 9 x 14 in. Constructed of metal, leather, resin and wax. Screen-worn by legendary gorilla actor and specialist Ray “Crash” Corrigan. The armature consists of a headband and sidebars attached to upper and lower jaw pieces. The jaw pieces are fashioned of wax with resin teeth and gums affixed. Upper and lower plates are operated independently to open and close the mouth of what would have been the rubber skin. There are two small plated levers that rest on the side of the actor’s face to affect the Gorilla’s snarling nose. Formerly from the collection of Forrest J Ackerman. In vintage very good condition. $3,000 - $5,000
