Engraved Silver Inlaid W Richards Back Action Percussion Double Barrel Shotgun with Case Single bead sight on the wide smooth barrel rib with some light scroll engraving near the breech with fine silver wire inlay. The rear of the rib is inscribed "London Twist" with bright silver inlay, and flourishes of light scroll. The breech end of the barrels feature two German silver inlaid bands with German silver blow out plugs. The hammers and locks are vividly casehardened with tight, sharp scroll engraving and "W. RICHARDS" on both locks. Checkered one-piece stock with engraved German silver fittings, single attaching wedge, and an engraved flat iron buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: minimum wall thickness .050/.050 inch; drop at comb 1 3/4 inches; drop at heel 2 5/8 inches; no cast 3/4 inch; toe in; length of pull 14 1/4 inches. With an oak takedown case with powder flask, shot flask, nipple wrench, London pattern turnscrew, patch cutter, and oil bottle. Manufacturer: W. The silver inlay is complete and bright. The locks, hammers, and upper tang have 95% of the vivid case colors with sharp engraving, clear markings, and some smooth gray patina on the upper tang. The wood is also fine with freshened checkering, some scattered dings and scratches, two larger dings near the toe, and a freshened coat of varnish. The stock fittings do sit slightly proud to the wood. Mechanically excellent.
