SN 15506. Cal. 9mm. Walther Mod HP in Cal 9mm, double action, with plastic grips. Standard configuration P38 with 5" bbl having drift adjustable front sight and fixed rear sight. Left side of slide marked with the usual Walther banner followed by 2-line address that includes "Cal. 9 m/m" and suffixed by "Mod. HP". Safety marked with a white highlighted "S" and red highlighted "F". The eagle/N marking on right side of slide, right side of bbl and right side of frame. Full matching SN under bbl, on slide, and right side of frame above trigger guard, with the last three digits "506" repeated on the locking block. Fitted with black plastic ribbed grips, left panel rectangularly recessed for the lanyard ring, each internally marked with two encircled codings. Mag marked with a single Eagle/355 at top of spine. Major and minor components with original high polish salt blue, locking block in the white. A fairly scarce pistol with a transitional blue which falls within in a range of just over 3000 pistols, from 12571-15725 made in 1941. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Approximately 95% bright original salt blue with minimal sharp edge wear and more noticeable thinning in the usual contact areas on the trigger guard and front strap.
