This Karmann Ghia was delivered to the USA in 1974. In 2001 the car was bought by a Portuguese collector who has fully restored the vehicle. In 2007 he had the car fully completed and received a historic registration. For this purpose, an expertise was made by the Clube Portugues de Automoveis Antigos, which indicates that the vehicle is in its original state. Since then the car was driven an average of 200km per year.

VW Karmann Ghia
When the production of VW Beetles exceeded the mark of one million in 1955, Volkswagen presented a two-seated coupé. The styling was by Luigi Segre from Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin. The sports car was built on the basis of a beetle from vehicle manufacturing company Karmann headed by Dr. Wilhelm Karmann in Osnabrück. On 14th of July 1955, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was presented to the public in Georgsmarienhütte, 10 km from Osnabrück. Demand was additionally stimulated by the 37th International Frankfurt Automobil Exhibition (IAA) in September 1955, since alongside the both elegant and expensive BMW 507, the VW Karmann Ghia Coupé was counted among the special attraction of the car parade. Even the Federal President, popular ‘Papa’ Heuss, wanted to know all about the ‘Sunday-VW’ during his tour of the exhibition halls.
