Ebony Magazine, published continuously since 1945, was, essentially, the 'Life Magazine' for African-Americans, with both content, and advertising, reflective of their lives. Jim Brown, who played for the Cleveland Browns in the NFL, was, arguably, the greatest running back ever. He played for only 9 seasons, setting records along the way, retiring at the end of the 1965 season, to pursue a career in acting (the piece carries a few photos from "The Dirty Dozen', which starred Lee Marvin, along with Brown) He explains his reasons for quitting football in the piece (I don't want to spoil it for you).
