Alaska was a flagship 365-foot steel passenger liner designed specifically to navigate the treacherous, narrow channels of Alaska’s Inside Passage. It was the literal lifeline for territory tourism and supply transport during the Great Depression. The interior typically featured grand, multi-course dining. This included specialized "Cheechako" dinners (celebrating first-time travelers to Alaska) or farewell galas serving regional seafood delicacies alongside traditional early 20th-century luxury liner fare.
