Very Vintage 1924 The Easterns Prayer Framed Art It comes from 1924, and is also know as "Allah's Prayer", put out by Buzza Company of Minneapolis. It has, on a few occassions, been put to song, and comes from, as Shahed Amanullah says "It recalls a time when Americans were fascinated with Islamic imagery and themes ...", a period of heigtened Orientalism (kind of that way now, but in a whole different way) It reads; I pray the prayer the Easterners do, May the peace of Allah abide with you; Wherever you stay, wherever you go, May the beautiful palms of Allah grow; Through days of labor, and nights of rest, May the love of Sweet Allah make you blest; So I touch my heart--as the Easterners do, May the peace of Allah abide with you!
