Very Fine U.S. Model 1851 Cavalry Saber Belt with Buckle The buff leather belt is marked "CROSSMAN/MAKER/NEWARK N. J." on the back side and looks to properly fit about a 33 inch waist (keep in mind these were worn over jackets so the wearer would have been pretty slight). The buckle pieces are both numbered "513." The buckle plate has the U.S. Seal and German silver laurels. The belt does not included a shoulder strap but does have the other straps. Many Civil War photographs show soldiers and troopers without shoulder straps.
