Extraordinary Fully Functional Replica Model 1878 Gatling Battery Gun with Carriage and Crates This is an exceptionally finely manufactured example of a full scale reproduction Colt Model 1878 Gatling Battery Gun chambered for the 45-70 Government cartridge. The gun is manufactured by Valley Engraving LLC of Woodfield, Ohio. The top of the receiver has an affixed circular plaque that reads "GATLING'S BATTERY GUN/3 JUNE 2009/MODEL 1878/CALIBER 45-70 GOV./MADE BY/VALLEY ENGRAVING LLC/and Neal E. Smith jr./WOODSFIELD, OHIO - U.S.A.". The gun has ten 18 inch round barrels with 2 1/4 inches of the muzzle end being octagon. The barrels are numbered on the brass breech plate. It is fitted with a Broadwell drum magazine which is marked round the top "BROADWELL DRUM CAPACITY 216 ROUNDS CALIBER 45-70 GOV. -DATE OF MANUFACTURE 29, DEC. 2008-" and Cyrillic manufacturer marking. The carriage is constructed of wood and steel with black painted metal parts. The gun comes with two crates for the action and drum magazine, which are marked "GATLING GUN SN./CALIBER 45-70 GOV." and "BROADWELL DRUM/MAGAZINE" respectively. The manual is also included.
