Outstanding Original U.S. Property Marked Winchester Model 52C Target Rifle with CMP Documentation Early Army contract Winchester model 52C target rifle with "U.S. Property" markings and CMP documents, manufactured circa 1958. Medium weight 28 inch target barrel, standard Winchester factory markings and Winchester "WP" proofed barrel and receiver. Receiver correctly etched "U.S. PROPERTY" above the serial number. The barrel has original Winchester front and rear target sight blocks along with factory scope blocks, and is fitted with original Winchester "micro-motion" adjustable target trigger as introduced on 52C target rifles. Original Winchester dark walnut marksman target stock with a factory installed hand stop rail, and a heavy checkered steel buttplate. The pistol grip flat has the very rare small "DOD/Defense Eagle" Government inspection proof only used on Winchester target stocks. Original "matching" numbered rifle bolt, and includes one Winchester five shot magazine. Consignor stated this rifle was hand-selected for a CMP employee and was sold directly at the south store in Port Clinton. Includes a CMP letter authenticating it was an original US Government contract rifle sold in 2003 along and comes with its original CMP cardboard box. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 52c-Rifle BBL: 28 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 22 LR Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 98353C Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Excellent with 99% of the original Winchester factory blued finish overall showing only a hint of edge wear with the front section of the bolt having its factory original "in the white" finish. The walnut stock is in very fine condition with a crisp DOD Defense Eagle proof with minor handling marks on the side of the stock in some areas from storage and handling by the Government. These rifles are a lot rarer to find in this condition than the later model 52D target rifles. The rifle has an excellent bore and looks like it was never issued, only handled.
