Unique Winchester Model 1890/62 Marked Slide Action Rifle in 22 Short with English Proofs This is a unique, possibly factory assembled, late production Winchester Model 90 slide action rifle that is fitted with an octagon barrel marked "MODEL 62". This is unique in that writer cannot recall ever seeing an octagon barrel Model 62. Features a dovetail beaded blade front sight and adjustable sporting type rear sight on a barrel with standard barrel markings. In addition to the standard barrel markings, the left rear flat is marked "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" in a zigzag bordered panel, 22 dot 42 NP" and a "crown/circled GP" and "crown/circled V" proofmarks. The upper left front of the receiver is also marked "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" and has a "crown/circled "V" proof. The top barrel flat and top of the receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proofmark, and the bolt is marked with a "crown/circled V" proofmark. With a checkered hard rubber factory buttplate. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 62 BBL: 23 inch octagon Stock: walnut Gauge: 22 short Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 850729 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with edge wear, scattered minor thinning, some minor dings and scratches on the barrel and magazine tube, some light spotting on the barrel, minor scratches on the receiver and a smooth mottled brown patina on the bolt. The wood is very good. The right side of the wrist and a portion of the buttstock are darker than the rest of the wood, and overall there minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
