Very Fine U.S. Harpers Ferry Model 1819 Hall Breech Loading Flintlock Rifle Dated 1838 The Hall rifles were the first firearms with completely interchangeable parts and the first breech loading rifle widely issued to any military. Despite issues with maintenance and gas leak, they were used into the mid-19th century, and some were even used by the Confederacy during the Civil War. This third production variation has the standard markings and features and is dated "1838" on the breechblock.
