Scarce U.S. Contract Simeon North Model 1811 Transitional Pattern Flintlock Pistol This pistol is one of just the U.S. Model 1811 pistols manufactured by Simeon North and then altered to use the double barrel band designed by U.S. inspector M. T. Wickham in 1812. This same basic pattern was continued for the Model 1813 and Model 1816. This example has the correct eagle motif over "U. STATES" below the flash pan and "S. NORTH/BERLIN/CON." at the tail. The barrel is marked "P/US/1774" at the breech on the left. Another "P" is stamped on the barrel tang. The stock has an "HHP" inspector stamp (Henry H. Perkins) just behind the rear lock bolt. Manufacturer: Simeon North Model: 1811 BBL: 8 7/8 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 69 Finish: bright Grips: Serial Number: NSN Class: Antique Condition: Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration. The iron surfaces have dark patina and mild pitting. The brass has aged patina. There are scattered marks and scratches consistent with use, handling, and storage throughout. The stock is fair with a stabilized spliced piece of wood visible on the left flat (with pins), various scrapes and dings, and some additional minute hairline cracks. Mechanically fine with a crude replacement top jaw on the lock and poorly aligned flash pan.
