Nimschke Exhibition Master Engraved, Gold Plated Frame American Standard Tool Co. Pocket Revolvers with Pearl Grips -A) American Standard Tool Co. Pocket Revolver with Case Offered here are two beautifully engraved American Standard Tool Co. .22 Caliber Revolvers, among the finest decorated 19th century pocket revolvers known to exist and almost certainly executed by the hand of the master engraver of the period, L. D. Nimschke, obviously for exhibition purposes. The highly detailed artwork on each revolver is nearly identical with the exception of the engraved accents appearing behind the triggers (scrolls and dots on "A," and stars and dots on "B"), engraving on the top straps (scrollwork and ribbons on "A," and scrollwork and cross hatching on "B"), the scrollwork patterns on the underside of the frames, and engraving on the recoil shields (scrollwork on "A," and cross hatching on "B"). The near full coverage engraving consists of floral scrollwork on a punch dot background. Even the hammers feature engraved motifs. The scrollwork on the back straps and butt’s surround a blank oval panel. A leaf engraved motif appears on the upper and lower left and right barrel flats and the top of the hammers. An engraved band appears on the barrels at the muzzle. The barrel ribs are marked "AMERICAN STANDARD TOOL Co. NEWARK N.J." inside a simple panel featuring a simple floral motif at the breech. The cylinders have a wide engraved band at the front and a star between each stop notch. The remainder of the cylinders are covered with scrollwork. The barrels and cylinders are blue. The hammers and triggers are casehardened and the frames are plated in gold. Fitted with pearl grips with star-point escutcheons. The respective matching serial numbers are found on the left side of the grip frame, barrel and cylinder. The right grip panel on "A" is numbered to the gun. Only "A" comes with a case. The case features a cartridge block holding 51 rounds and a blank inlaid brass oval on the exterior of the lid and comes with a key. Manufacturer: American Standard Tool Co.
