Fine Tranter Patent Double Action Percussion Revolver with James Kerr & Co. Labeled Case "W. TRANTER'S/PATENT" is marked on the loading lever and on the left side of the frame. The revolver has no retailer marking. A light scroll engraving is featured on the frame, trigger guard, breech end of the barrel and buttcap. British crown/letter proofs are found on the breech end of the barrel and on the rear of the cylinder between the chambers. The right side of the frame has a cylinder safety stop. The serial number is marked on the right side of the frame. A band of engraving is featured on the muzzle and a twisted rope band is on the front of the cylinder. The grip is checkered. The partitioned case is lined in green felt and has a James Kerr & Co. of 54 King William St. London Bridge paper retailer label on the inside of the lid. The following London Armory accessories are included: two-cavity bullet mold, plain James Dixon & Sons powder flask and percussion cap tin. Manufacturer: British Model: Revolver BBL: 6 inch octagon Stock: Gauge: 44 percussion Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 7601T Class: Antique Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 60% plus original high polished blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The cylinder is a mixture of silvered out original case colors and smooth gray patina. The grip is excellent with a few blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is good with a number of handling/storage marks and high spot wear on the lining. Most of the aged label remains with clear printing.
