"Tom Otterness's offset lithograph print, titled "9/11," serves as a poignant tribute to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. While the edition is not numbered, the print stands as a heartfelt expression of Otterness's grief and reflection. In this work, Otterness depicts a solitary figure amidst the ruins of the fallen Twin Towers, encapsulating the profound sense of loss and devastation experienced during that time."

  • Provenance: Tom Otterness (born 1952) is an American sculptor who is one of America's most prolific public artists. Otterness's works adorn parks, plazas, subway stations, libraries, courthouses and museums around the world, notably in New York City's Rockefeller Park in Battery Park City and Life Underground in the 14th Street – Eighth Avenue New York Subway station. He contributed a balloon (a giant upside-down Humpty Dumpty) to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 1994 he was elected as a member of the National Academy Museum.

    Otterness's works are included in major museums, foundations and cultural organizations such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York and San Francisco, the Eli and Edyth Broad Foundation in Los Angeles, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, MONA (Museum of New and Old Art) in Tasmania, Museum Beelden aan Zee in the Hague, Netherlands, the Miyagi Museum of Art in Sendai, Japan, Frederic Meijer Sculpture Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City, the Isreal Museum in Jerusalem, IVAN Centre del Carme, Valencia, Spain, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, Brooklyn Museum, Weatherspoon Art Museum in North Carolina, the Lannan Foundation and others.
